CULTURAL HISTORY MATTERS
Dear
Community Friend,
We invite you to attend the Honorary Street Dedication of the Dr. Percy L. Julian Family Way,
to be held at 152 South 14th Avenue, Maywood. This home was the residence of the Julian Family, from 1935—1950.
In that year, he was voted Chicago’s Man of the Year, by the Chicago Sun-Times.
As you know, Dr.
Julian was a world-famous chemist, a community civil rights activist, and an educational supporter, here in Maywood. He was
known as the Wizard of Soy, or Compound “S”.
This historical moment will begin at 11:00
A.M., to be followed by an Open House Reception at our West Town Museum of Cultural History, at 104 South 5th Avenue,
Maywood. The date is September 17, 2010.
We look forward to having you witness this occasion. Please RSVP by September
10, 2010, by calling (708)343-3554, or (708)516-0628.
Yours For Community Pride,
